Editorial Analysis
Watchman Press Review
The following classifications and notes are reviewed Watchman Press editorial analysis. They are separate from the biblical text and from the raw cross-reference dataset.
The Great Light in Galilee
Matthew applies Isaiah's light imagery to the beginning of Jesus' Galilean ministry. The Gospel identifies the coming of light to the region with the presence and proclamation of Jesus.
The geographical detail matters. Jesus begins proclaiming the kingdom in the very region Matthew presents as the place where prophetic light dawns.

The Great Light in Galilee
Matthew introduces the Galilean setting as occurring so that the prophetic word would be fulfilled.
The fulfillment is tied to both place and mission: the Messiah's public ministry brings light into the region described by the prophet.
